No action taken against dissenting Rembia rep – yet

MELAKA: Disciplinary action against Rembia assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis for turning rebellious over the appointment of a new Melaka chief minister will be decided later, says the new Chief Minister.

Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said he will “wait and see” before deciding on the next course of action against Muhammad Jailani.

Ab Rauf was sworn in as the Chief Minister on Friday.

Muhammad Jailani, who held the tourism exco portfolio under former chief minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali, continued to swipe against Ab Rauf’s appointment by alleging Sulaiman was pressured to resign and it wasn’t voluntary.

He also claimed that the reason cited for Sulaiman to step down was just a smokescreen for “another” to come into power.

Muhammad Jailani reportedly said that Sulaiman was forced to quit.

“Please stop deceiving the rakyat, Sulaiman, and I know the reason for (the former’s) resignation,” he was quoted as saying in a report in a Bahasa Malaysia news portal.
