Over 6,000 UTeM students eligible for Menu Siswa

MELAKA: Some 6,800 Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) students are eligible for two sets of menus offered under Menu Siswa Rahmah for as low as RM3.50.

UTeM vice-chancellor Ts Dr Massila Kamalrudin said the menus that contain choices of chicken, fish, vegetables, fried noodles as well as cordial drinks were available at nine cafeterias within the university and its campus from March 20.

"These two menus are meant for students from the B40 groups while the rest of the students can still opt for the RM5 Menu Rahmah servings that were introduced earlier," she said on Monday (March 27).

UTeM currently had 11,000 students pursuing various courses while an estimated 62% were from the B40 group.

Massila hopes the students would be able to focus on excelling in their studies with the cheaper food price at the cafeterias.

"We understand the needs of our students," she said.

Massila said the cafeteria operators had also agreed to cooperate with UTeM’s management to ensure the students received quality and healthy servings.

"We were able to get the RM3.50 price because the university management has absorbed the rental fees for operators until the end of the year," she added.
