Cops, firemen foil attempt of drug syndicate members to escape through house roof in Jinjang


KUALA LUMPUR: Firefighters were deployed to assist the police after a group of drug syndicate members fled by running on the roof of a suspect’s home.

In a statement, acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said a police operation was conducted early Monday (March 27) morning at a flat in Jinjang Baru here.

The resulting operation led to the arrest of 10 suspects - nine men and a woman - for suspected drug distribution. A further 17 men were arrested for various drug-related offences.

"All the suspects are aged between 23 and 40, and have been brought to the Sentul police's Narcotics Crime Investigations Department for further investigation" he said.

Firemen at the scene were also tasked with cutting open the doors of the suspect's home.

Videos shared by Sentul police showed a skylift being mobilised to assist the authorities capture the suspects that had fled on the roof.

The operation led to the seizure of 59.44g of methamphetamine, as well as two cars, a motorcycle and various jewellery.

The drugs seized is worth around RM5,944. All suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

"Records showed that all have drug related offences and a remand order will be obtained on March 28. Investigations are underway to identify other members of the syndicate and the source of the supply.

"Based on these arrests and seizures, the police have successfully dismantled a drug distributing syndicate that had been active within the Sentul area within the last six months," he said.
