POPULAR singer and actor Naim Daniel has been inducted into the Malaysia Book of Records for his performance during the recent music awards show of Anugerah Juara Lagu, reported Harian Metro.

Naim had been officially recognised as the first Malaysian singer to perform live on stage while hanging upside down.

The singer accomplished this feat during a performance at the music awards show at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on Feb 12.

“It was a brilliant idea, which my management, the show’s producers and I discussed the day before the show.

“I was carefully supervised. I also got the green light from doctors who gave me a check-up,” Naim said in an interview.

During the three-hour music awards show, Naim sang Mainan while suspended from cables attached to his legs and body.

> Sinar Harian reported that a fire at the Ibnu Sina Mosque in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa disrupted plans of neighbouring residents to hold terawih prayers on the eve of the fasting month.

The blaze destroyed almost 90% of the mosque.

A spokesperson for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said it received an emergency call at 7.10pm before deploying a team to the scene of the incident around 7.17pm.

“Three fire engines from stations in Setapak, Jalan Tun Razak and Hang Tuah with 21 firefighters were rushed to the scene immediately,” said the spokesperson, adding that the blaze was brought under control in 10 minutes but was fully doused by 9.36pm.

Nobody was hurt during the fire.
