KOTA KINABALU: An affordable housing project costing over RM400mil will be completed in the Tuaran district by 2025.

The project is located in Kampung Serusup which is about 4km from Tuaran town and will provide 1,853 units of affordable homes for those in the B40 income group.

The Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) is expected to implement the project as soon as the joint venture agreement with a local developer was signed after the month of Ramadan, said its chairman Datuk Masiung Banah.

Masiung said some 6.3ha of land in two locations nearby to each other have been earmarked to construct the project.

“The project will have five blocks of apartments that will cost RM406mil,” he said, when visiting the proposed site on Tuesday (March 21).

“The project will be completed by 2025. Each apartment unit will have two rooms and it will be sold at RM250,000 and above,” he added.

The Kuamut assemblyman said this was an initiative by the state government to fulfill the housing needs of the people especially those who come under the B40 group.

He was accompanied by LPPB deputy chairman Datuk Jamilah Antalip as well other board members and the management team.
