Finance Ministry has final say in appointing DNB chief, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry has the final say on the appointment of the Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) chief executive officer, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications and Digital Minister said appointments for Minister of Finance Incorporated entities were not under the purview of his ministry.

"DNB is a gazetted agency (there are 12) that the Communications and Digital Ministry oversees but we do not make that decision (on appointments)," he said at a press conference at the Parliament briefing centre on Monday (March 20).

Fahmi also remained coy when asked if his ministry would be involved in the appointment.

"You will know when you know," he said.

Last week, it was reported that the contract of DNB chief executive officer Augustus Ralph Marshall, which ended on March 11, was not extended.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said phase two of the National Digital Network Plan (Jendela) would only be rolled out once Budget 2023 was passed.

"We will be bringing up (this matter) to the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (March 23).

"Once the Budget is fully passed, then we can get to work," he said.

He added that the Pakej Perpaduan initiatives would be announced on March 29.
