Quizzing Muhyiddin in graft probe is dirty politics, says Johor Perikatan Wanita


KULAI: Johor Perikatan Nasional's women's wing says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commision (MACC) calling coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in for questioning is tantamount to character assassination.

Its chief Datuk Azlinda Abd Latif said the movement would not hesitate to lodge police reports on accusations of power abuse being levelled at former prime minister Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president.

"This is character assassination to 'kill off' Muhyiddin, who has sacrificed everything in the struggle for integrity (against) abuse of power and kleptocracy.

"MACC should make a (fair) investigation as there were also reports of lavish spending by Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan during the last general election," she told a press conference at Johor Perikatan headquarters in Senai here on Friday (Feb 17).

It was reported earlier that MACC had questioned Muhyiddin over claims that a government contract worth over a billion ringgit was allegedly handed to a relative.

According to a source, Muhyiddin was called in by the MACC on Thursday (Feb 16).

The source also said an investigation paper involving RM300mil alleged to have been received by Bersatu from Covid-19 stimulus package funds is also now in the final stages of completion by the MACC.

The source added that the investigation paper will then be handed over to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action.
