Mechanical malfunction causes light aircraft to make forced landing in Jasin, no casualties


PUTRAJAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed that an aircraft on a training flight made a forced landing in Jasin, Melaka due to a mechanical malfunction as reported by the pilot.

"The Piper PA-28-181, 9MSKJ operated by Malaysian Flying Academy (MFA) requested the air traffic control tower for a priority landing at Malacca International Airport," said Chief Executive Officer of CAAM, Captain Norazman Mahmud in a statement.

"However, it made a forced landing near Xinyi Energy Smart Factory, Jasin, Melaka at 11:05am today (Feb 14)."

An instructor and a student were on board and no casualties were reported.

A safety investigation will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia in accordance with Part XXVI Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
