Cops nab man in Ampang for assault

AMPANG: A 37-year-old stall owner has been detained after allegedly punching another man for being noisy at Padang Pandan Mewah here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the victim was chatting with others at the stall when the suspect punched his face and kicked him on Feb 5.

"We detained the suspect at Pandan Court, Pandan Mewah at 8.10pm on Saturday (Feb 11).

"The suspect has a criminal record and tested negative for drugs," he said in a statement on Monday (Feb 13).

Investigations revealed that the suspect was enraged with the victim for being noisy as the latter was scolding his relatives near the suspect's stall, he said.

"The suspect punched the victim and kicked him three times.

"He has been remanded until Wednesday (Feb 15) for further investigation," he added.

ACP Mohamad Farouk said the case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for assault.

"We urge the public to refrain from taking any action that could harm others.

"Stern action will be taken," he said.
