Army commando feared drowned in Pulau Undan during diving training


MELAKA: An army commando is feared drowned while on combat diving training in Pulau Undan, off the Umbai coast in Merlimau here.

A Melaka Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the search and rescue operation is ongoing for the victim, identified as L/Kpl Edrin Baintim, 25.

He said a distress call was made at about 5.30pm on Tuesday (Feb 7).

He added that 16 personnel from the Melaka Tengah and Merlimau stations with reinforcement from the army are currently combing the shoreline in search of the victim.

As of 8.40pm, the operation is still ongoing.
