A VIDEO showing a tearful goodbye between an Indonesian domestic helper and her employer’s family went viral online, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The video showed a woman hugging and saying goodbye to a few children, all of whom were crying.

Mengli Tan, who uploaded the video on her Facebook account, said domestic helper Siti, 45, was a valued member of the family.

“Thank you for working so hard for the past six years. Now that you are going to pursue your own happiness, I wish you the best in the future. Really reluctant (to see you go),” she wrote.

When interviewed, Tan said the family hired Siti six years ago to help with household chores after she had her third child.

She had even become best friends with Tan’s mother-in-law, she said.

Tan explained that Siti had met a man from Sabah online and the two decided to get married.

In just a day, the video received more than 3,600 likes and was shared more than 3,200 times.

Many Internet users commented that the video reminded them how painful it was to part ways with their own helpers.

> Hong Kong superstar Tony Leung, who does not even have a Facebook or Instagram account, made his debut on Douyin (China’s version of TikTok) recently, China Press reported.

The 60-year-old, who is known for his aloofness, was seen giving a warm greeting to fans on his first video post.

“Tony Leung is not special. Sometimes he stares blankly into space, sometimes he hides himself.

“You may feel as if my eyes could speak, but that is because I am not well versed at expressing myself with words.

“I feel nervous meeting someone for the first time and will be at a loss for words when in a crowd.

“Even so, there is much I would like to share, but I am uncertain how to express myself,” he said.

In just hours after starting the account, he amassed more than 670,000 followers.

Many Internet users initially thought it was a fake account due to Leung’s preference to keep a low profile online.

He is one of Asia’s most successful actors and was dubbed by CNN as one of Asia’s 25 Greatest Actors of All Time.

He is known for his roles in high-profile movies such as Infernal Affairs (2002) and Red Cliff (2008).
