Elephantiasis prevalence target of under 2% achieved, says Health DG

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has achieved the lymphatic filariasis infection prevalence target of less than 2% in 125 endemic sub-districts last year, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said this was achieved through the National Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme (PEFLK) held since 2002 in 127 endemic sub-districts in eight states, namely Kedah, Perak, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak.
