Ideas to revitalise retail, travel and tourism sectors welcome, says Transport Minister

SEPANG: The government welcomes all initiatives, including from the private sector, to rejuvenate the retail, tourism and travel sectors, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Speaking to the media after launching a package of initiatives for students who intend to use KLIA2, Loke said any form of help to make travelling exciting again is welcome.

"It is good to see efforts to create vibrancy and buzz at KLIA2," he said after launching WCT Malls' campaign for students at KLIA2 on Thursday (Jan 12).

The campaign that runs from now until April 30 will see students enjoying discounted rides on KLIA Transit, a rail service between KL Sentral and KLIA2 that passes through Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya/Cyberjaya, Salak Ringgit and KLIA.

Students need to sign up at www.kliaekspres.com to claim the discount.

Elsewhere, WCT Malls is also partnering with AirAsia ride to offer RM5 promo codes for rides originating from its premises at KLIA2.

By signing up through the WCT Buddy loyalty app, students can get RM10 ecash vouchers redeemable at selected retail outlets at KLIA2, other than at the Eraman duty-free outlet.

WCT Malls is the operator of gateway@klia2, and details on the student promo can be obtained from the mall's concierge counter at KLIA2.

In his speech at the launch, WCT Holdings Bhd group managing director Datuk Lee Tuck Foo said as the country returned to normal after the long pandemic, it was apt to have a campaign that offered students some goodies.

"Anything that can be done to help students with their expenses will go a long way towards making things easier for them," he said.
