Woman killed in two-vehicle accident in Perak


IPOH: A 37-year-old woman died in an accident involving two vehicles at KM235.6 northbound at the North South Expressway on Tuesday (Jan 10).

“The accident was between a lorry and a car. The car initially stopped at the road shoulder before the lorry hit the side of the car where the victim was seated," said a Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

He said that a distress call was received at around 5.30am.

“The victim has been identified as B. Karthigayayni. The car's driver and another passenger were unharmed,” he added, saying that lorry driver was also not injured.

He said the firemen were able to retrieve the deceased safely before she was declared dead by the medical officer.

“The body has been given to the police for their next course of actions,” he added.
