MCCBCHST wishes Malaysians 'Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year'

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) wishes a blessed and peaceful Christmas and a fruitful new year to all Malaysians.

As a multicultural and multi-religious nation, the council called for Malaysians to be tolerant and accepting of one another.

"MCCBCHST urges all Malaysians to pray for a new year filled with love and hope that will manifest itself through tangible acts of moderation, understanding and acceptance of one another unconditionally.

"Mindful of the future we are called to create hearts filled with peace, sincerity and reciprocal mutual admiration and acceptance of one another and to realise that this work of promoting and maintaining harmony among ourselves is the work of people of goodwill," it said in a statement.

It added that Malaysia needs to move forward to be the accelerator of newer ways to make Malaysia more inclusive but doesn't discount the old ways of doing things.

"As a multi-cultural and multi-religious nation, we are asked to shine forth our innate understanding and acceptance of one another propounding our views and acts with great moderation.

"Have a Blessed and holy Christmas and have a fulfilling and harmonious new year," it said.
