ALOR SETAR: The Kedah Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society branch will be hosting the national-level Global Wondrous Lotus Sutra Adaptation Performance here on Saturday (Dec 10).
The grand performance will be held at 1pm at its branch in Mergong.
"The global performance will also be held live at the Tzu-Chi headquarters in Taiwan and all Tzu-Chi branches covering some 101 countries across the world," said its chief executive officer Low Keong Koon.
“The event is held in conjunction with the 56 years anniversary of the founding of Tzu-Chi in Taiwan by Master Cheng Yen and 25 years of establishment of Tzu-Chi in Kedah, besides celebrating the completion of the society's new grand hall 'Gan En Tang'."
"Some 2000 Tzu-Chi followers and volunteers will take part in the performance which will feature various formations in sign language with religious songs.
"In 2012, the same performance was staged at PISA Penang where some 20,000 followers and members of the public attended the event.
"Preparation to host this grand performance started a few months ago and rehearsals have been held daily,” said Low during a press conference here.
