KOTA KINABALU: No district voting centres in Sabah were affected by floods, says Sabah police commissioner.
Datuk Idris Abdullah added that polling has been going on smoothly in all 874 polling stations despite the rain in some areas in the state.
“A total of 8,361 police personnel were on duty during polling day.
“Meanwhile, a total 401 campaign permits were issued throughout the Sabah contingent,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 19).
Idris added that helicopters were also utilised to deliver ballot boxes to 87 remote areas in Sabah.
A total of 28 investigation papers have been opened out of 112 reports filed to the police from Oct 26 until Nov 18, he added.
“Throughout the campaign period, there were no unwanted incidents,” he said.
Meanwhile, overnight rains had caused some flooding in some villages in the interior Nabawan (under Pensiangan constituency), as well as in Kota Belud.
According to the Nabawan Fire and Rescue Department, the areas affected were Kg Magulasing and Kg Lima.
“There is no flood relocation operation that took place and no temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were opened.
“More information will be updated constantly,” said the department.
