Sultan Sharafuddin visits Royal Selangor outlet in Battersea Power Station, London


PETALING JAYA: Selangor's Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah paid a visit to the newly-opened flagship Royal Selangor store located in the Battersea Power Station in London on Tuesday (Nov 15).

The Selangor Sultan was accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and their entourage, marking their first visit to the Malaysian-based pewter product manufacturer and retailer's British flagship stop since it opened on Oct 14.

The royal guests were given a tour by Royal Selangor managing director Yong Yoon Li, which featured the store's unique interior design that highlights the historic, well-preserved brick walls and antique meters located in the store, which were used when the power station, which was built in the late 1920s, was in operation.

Sultan Sharafuddin also signed a special plaque to commemorate his visit.

The royal couple was also given a tour of the newly restored Battersea Power Station by the chief design review officer Marina Chung.

Also in attendance were Malaysian High Commissioner Datuk Zakri Jaafar and his wife, Datin Nor Aini Abd Rahman, along with several other officers from the High Commissioner's Office.

Royal Selangor, which has been officially endorsed by Selangor royalty since 1979, has operated since 1885 and offers a wide range of tableware and gift items made from high-quality cast pewter which it exports to over 20 countries worldwide. Its products are wold at various retail stores in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
