GE15: All salary will go to needy folk, says Naran if he becomes Jalong rep

IPOH: Lawyer Datuk Naran Singh promises that he will not take a single cent from his assemblyman's salary if he wins the Jalong state seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Naran, who is representing Perikatan Nasional and Gerakan in the 15th General Election, said all his salary will go to a fund that he will set up to help needy folk.

"It will be called the Jalong's People Fund.

"The money will be used to help people who cannot afford to pay certain hospital bills and to buy caskets for the departed or pay for funeral expenses," he said.

"Youth who get into tertiary education but cannot afford to pay the deposit, transportation cost and room rental will also be eligible to get some allocation from the fund," he added.

Naran said the board for the fund will have multiracial representatives from the community.

"We will be fair. As a state assemblyman, we only want to help the people regardless of race," he said.

Naran will contest the state seat against the incumbent Loh Sze Yee of Pakatan Harapan, Pan Chean Chang from Barisan Nasional and Independent candidate Indrani Selva Kumar.

Naran said the other plans that he had for the constituency included setting up a physiotherapy centre that will provide free services to the people.

"I will also set up a tuition centre for children.

"I will ensure that hawkers who do not have licences will be issued with one, either permanent or temporary, that can be renewed on a yearly basis," he said.

"I will make sure the three dilapidated markets in the constituency will be given a facelift," he added.
