Cyberjaya hospital to benefit close to 300,000 residents

CYBERJAYA: The new RM508.8mil Hospital Cyberjaya is the first platinum-rated government hospital under the Green Building Index certification, which emphasises sustainability and energy efficiency in its design.

Built on a 5.2ha plot in Cyber 11, the hospital was opened by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin yesterday.

He said that initially, there was a proposal to lease the hospital to the private sector, but the government decided to keep it a public hospital.

“One of the reasons we considered privatising this hospital is the fact that Cyberjaya folks comprise mainly those in the M40 group who can afford the fees, but there are also those who are not in this group.

“So, that is why it remains a government hospital. I want the people and Cyberjaya residents to also be able to seek medical treatment at a public hospital,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

Khairy said the opening of the hospital would also reduce congestion at government hospitals, especially in Putrajaya, Kajang and Serdang.

Hospital Cyberjaya, which has 288 beds, is expected to benefit about 282,000 residents in the Sepang district.

Khairy said the hospital offered 14 areas of expertise and health services including radiology, dentistry, rehabilitation and orthopaedic.

“The hospital will also provide audiology services for children and adults including hearing screening and diagnostic tests,” he said, adding that geriatrics services will also be available at the hospital.
