Liow reminds voters of his achievements as MP

BENTONG: MCA candidate for Bentong, Tan Sri Liow Tiong Lai, has asked voters to compare what he had achieved during his four tenures in the parliamentary seat with that of the incumbent.

He hopes voters will make a wise decision come polling day.

Liow said during his tenure as Bentong MP, he had ensured the construction of an East Coast Rail Link station in the constituency to develop the local economy.

“I also ensured the construction of the Central Spine Road to shorten travel distance in Bentong.

“The one who cancelled the construction of the ECRL station in Bentong wasn’t me but the Pakatan government.

“They want capable, experienced leaders willing to serve and solve their problems.

“I hope the people will make a wise decision,” he said after submitting his nomination papers at the Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Bentong municipal council hall yesterday.

Liow is squaring off against Pakatan Harapan’s Young Syefura Othman, Perikatan Nasional’s Datuk Roslan Hassan, and two Independent candidates, including the incumbent Wong Tack, in a five-cornered tussle.

Asked about Pakatan’s Young Syefura, who is from DAP, Liow said he believed that voters in Bentong did not think along the racial line.

Wong, who won on a DAP ticket in 2018, confirmed that the party had automatically sacked him when he contested as an Independent.

However, he stressed he would continue to support Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Young Syefura said she would give her best shot in the fight for Bentong.

For the four state seats under the Bentong parliamentary constituency, Bilut is seeing contest between Gerakan Tanah Air’s (GTA) Mohd Shokri Kadir, Perikatan’s Datuk Sri Chandra Balabedha, Barisan’s Wong Siew Mun and Pakatan’s Lee Chin Chen.

In Ketari, the three candidates are Pakatan’s Su Keong Siong, Perikatan’s Tan Wei Leong and Barisan’s Amizar Abu Adam.

In Sabai, Perikatan’s Nurul Qomar Abdol Talib @ Ramali is going up against Pakatan’s Kamache A. Doray Rajoo and Barisan’s V. Arumugam.

In Pelangai, the four candidates are Barisan’s Datuk Seri Johari Harun, GTA’s Isa Ahmad, Pakatan’s Ahmed Wafiuddin Shamsuri and Perikatan’s Kasim Samat.
