GE15: Nik Abduh will not be defending Bachok seat

KOTA BARU: Incumbent Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Aziz (pic) will not be contesting in the 15th General Election (GE15), says Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The PAS deputy president said that Nik Abduh has decided to not contest to make way for his best friend Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman.

"Nik Abduh voluntarily withdrew to make way for the young candidate, so there are no issues. Nik Abduh is also present to show his support and he will join us during the campaigning period," he said after the Perikatan Nasional candidate announcement.

Hailing from Bachok, Mohd Syahir is the PAS central deputy secretary general.

Meanwhile, asked whether Nik Abduh would contest under the Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket, Tuan Ibrahim said it was just a rumor.

Meanwhile, state Perikatan chairman and Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said incumbent Tumpat MP Che Abdullat Mat Nawi was not able to retain his seat as he didn't pass the PAS syura council's vetting.

His place would be replaced with Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi.
