KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after being crushed by a tractor in Sabah’s interior Tenom district on Friday (Oct 28).
It is learned the victim, in his 60s, lost control of the tractor when carrying out soil work near SK Lagut Tenom in Kampung Tuan at about 10am Friday.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received an emergency call on the incident at 10.12am, adding that a team of seven personnel and officers were subsequently rushed to the area.
The spokesman said it was believed the man failed to get the tractor under control while doing earthworks and as a result, the heavy machinery tilted over and pinned the victim.
On reaching the scene, the spokesman said, the victim was still trapped in the driver’s seat in the tractor, adding rescuers immediately tried to free the man.
“After retrieving the victim, paramedics confirmed the man had died at the scene,” he said.
The body has been handed over to the police for the next course of action, the spokesman said, adding that the operation ended at 11.49am.
