IPOH: The services of the Flying Doctor Unit (FDU) at the Kinta District Health Office will be temporarily stopped until the evaluation on the safety aspects of the chartered services are obtained, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Health Minister said this was just a temporary measure for safety purposes.

“This is just for a short while so that we are able to gather information as to what happened.
“Also there are two teams for the services (FDU), and we need to mentally prepare the other team after what happened,” he told a press conference after visiting the six helicopter crash victims admitted to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here Thursday (Oct 27).

In the 1.15pm incident on Wednesday (Oct 26), five personnel from the unit, including a doctor, were on board the Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd-owned helicopter when it crashed near Brinchang, resulting in all on board, including the pilot, sustaining injuries.
Khairy said the daily route for the FDU is from Ulu Kinta-Hulu Perak and Gua Musang early in the morning.

He said for now it shows that the crash had nothing to do with the helicopter, but due to the weather.
“The pilot did his best to land the helicopter safely,” he added.
