PUNCAK ALAM: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has expressed his wish to defend the Bera seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
"I want to, but we have to wait for the announcement," the Umno vice-president said.

The incumbent Bera MP was speaking after launching the opening ceremony of the Kuala Selangor Malaysia Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives Carnival at Dataran Eco Grandeur here Thursday (Oct 20).
Also present at the event was Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

When asked whether Tengku Zafrul would be contesting in Kuala Selangor, the Prime Minister said an announcement would be made soon.
"It will be announced either by the party president or the state liaison chairman in each state.

"Normally, it will be announced by the state liaison chairman and a letter of appointment will be handed over to the candidates," he said, adding that the party was still discussing its candidates.

When asked if former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would be contesting in Pekan, he said it was up to the EC to decide who could and could not contest in GE15.
On Thursday (Oct 13), Pekan Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Zamri Ramly confirmed that Najib was among the five proposed as candidates to contest in Pekan.
He also said there were no plans to name Najib's children, Datuk Nizar Najib or Nooryana Najwa, to contest in their father's parliamentary seat.
