GE15: Voter carpool initiative makes a return

PETALING JAYA: Regular Malaysians are once again preparing to help fellow voters get home to cast their ballots for the 15th General Election (GE15) with the return of the crowd-sourced carpool initiative, #CarpoolGE15.

The grassroots movement once again seeks to connect Malaysians together with other Malaysians in need of a ride to their home state to vote regardless of race, religion or political alignment and has already drawn a positive response from netizens online.

"This is super cool," tweeted twitter user @AnasofeaRidzwan.

"Grassroots mobilising again," added @nikicheong.

The movement also addressed some concerns from social media users on the effectiveness of the carpool movement over fears that the elections might be held during the flood season.

"We hope our media friends and celebrities can help utilise the #CarpoolGE15, #UndiBanjir hashtags for anyone with 4WDs or any transportation means to help voters reach their voting stations. We will help as much as possible!" tweeted @CarpoolGE15.

The movement began back in GE14 as @CarpoolGE14 which, according to the #pulangmengundi website, connected over 7,000 carpoolers together with those in need of a ride in 2018.
