Covid-19: Another 1,639 cases recorded on Sept 18, four deaths


PETALING JAYA: There were 1,639 new Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia on Sunday (Sept 18), says the Health Ministry.

Data released on its CovidNow portal shows that this brings the cumulative number of cases 4,818,890 cases since the pandemic began.

A total of 1,630 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were nine imported cases.

Four more deaths were recorded on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 36,312.

There are currently 25,611 active cases in Malaysia, with 24,404 individuals (95.3%) undergoing home quarantine, while four people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres.

Of the active cases, 1,143 individuals (4.5%) require hospitalisation.

Of that number, there are 60 patients warded in intensive care units (ICU), with 39 requiring ventilator support.
