Investigation papers into leaked court documents in Najib, Rosmah trials submitted to DPP, say cops

KUALA LUMPUR: The investigation papers (IP) for the alleged leaks of court judgment documents involving former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said, however, both investigation papers have been returned to the police for further investigation.

"The IP for the case on Najib's leaked judgment documents was submitted on Aug 30 and as well as Sept 5 but it has been returned to us.

"As for the case involving Rosmah, the IP was submitted on Aug 30 as well and returned. We will investigate the matter further," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Tuesday (Sept 6).

So far, in Najib's leaked court judgment documents case, police have recorded the statements of 17 people while for Rosmah's case, 10 individuals have been called up for their statements to be recorded, Comm Azmi said.

"We are not ruling out the possibility that some of those whose statements have been recorded will be called up again.

"We aim to complete the investigation for both cases as soon as possible," he said.

Comm Azmi, however, remained coy when asked whether police had identified those responsible for both leaks.

Previously, Sentul OCPD ACP Beh Eng Lai had said for the case involving Rosmah's leaked judgment documents that the documents were actually a reference for the judge and not final.

A story by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin was published on Aug 26 that was titled as “Rosmah Mansor Will Be Pronounced Guilty On 1st September 2022”.

The report claimed that the decision by the court to find Rosmah Mansor as guilty had already been made.

"The matter is still being investigated, including under the Official Secrets Act 1972," ACP Beh added.

Meanwhile, on Najib's leaked judgment documents, the police received a report on the matter in relation to the SRC International Sdn Bhd case on Aug 23.
