Nine students to be charged with bullying 14-year-old in Perak

IPOH: Nine students who were involved in bullying a 14-year-old student will be charged at Teluk Intan court.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the police had initially detained 10 students, but one of them has been released on bail and will be a witness for the case.

“The students, aged between 16 and 17, will be charged on Monday (Sept 5).

“Based on the reports we received, the 14-year-old victim had broken ribs, several bruises on his face, hands, and feet, as well as burnt marks at the back of his body,” he said.

On June 25, 10 secondary school students were detained for their involvement in bullying the Form Two student at a school hostel in Teluk Intan.

It is learned that the fight occurred around midnight on June 23.

According to the police's preliminary investigation, one of the suspects took the victim to his dorm before he was beaten up and injured with a hot iron.

It is believed that the incident was due to jealousy, as the victim was seen chatting up a female student who was also the girlfriend of one of the suspects.

The victim called his mother and complained of pain in his abdomen before lodging a police report.

The case was investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
