Azalina on Special Adviser's post: I have not resigned


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said is still the Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Law and Human Rights.

“I would like to confirm that as of Aug 31,2022, I am still serving as the Law and Human Rights Special Adviser,” she said in a brief Facebook post.

Sinar Harian reported yesterday that Azalina had relinquished her post.

The report quoting sources said Azalina had tendered her resignation on Tuesday (Aug 30).

The Pengerang MP was appointed by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the special adviser for law and human rights in Oct 2021.

Azalina, who is also an Umno supreme council member, recently questioned why the current Attorney General was not government-friendly.

She had said in other parts of the world, a prime minister would appoint "his own person" to be the AG.

Azalina had also questioned why the Federal Court rejected former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's bid to postpone proceedings after changing his team of lawyers.
