KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s daily Covid-19 cases passed the 300 mark for the first time in over four months after the state recorded 315 infections on Friday (Aug 5).
The last time daily infections went over 300 cases was on March 30.
State Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said in his daily briefing on Friday (Aug 5) that more districts recorded higher caseloads from the previous day.
He said the highest jump was recorded in Tuaran which now has 41 cumulative active cases after detecting 22 new infections in the last 24 hours.
This was followed by Kota Kinabalu (16 new cases, 84 cumulative), Putatan (11 new, 26 cumulative) and Sandakan (eight new, 39 cumulative).
He added that eight districts recorded new cases in the double digits while in 16 others, these were only in the single digits.
"Three districts did not record any new infection in the past 24 hours namely Kunak, Pitas and Tongod," Masidi said.
He said 309 of the 315 new infections comprised Category 1 and 2 cases, with one each in Categories 3 and 5, and four in Category 4.
