Ah Long harassing defaulter’s former wife and her children

KUALA LUMPUR: A single mother has been fearing for the safety of her children due to constant harassment from loan sharks.

The 35-year-old woman, who only wished to be known as Too, said she started receiving text messages from five illegal moneylenders last Saturday.

“They asked me to pay off the debts owed by my ex-husband and said I was made the guarantor for the loans.

“I explained to them I have got nothing to do with him as we have been divorced since 2013,” she said.

Her former husband is only identified as Tan.

Despite this, two loan sharks still threatened to harm her and her two children.

“The Ah Long claimed they have personal information about me and my children.

“They threatened to splash red paint on my house and do something to my children,” she told a press conference organised by MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong yesterday.

Chong urged the loan sharks to lodge a police report against their defaulters, and not take the law into their own hands by harassing the innocent.

“Too and Tan have been separated for nine years, please leave her and the family alone,” he said, warning that those who harmed the mother and children would be brought to justice.

Too, who lodged a police report over the harassment, pleaded to her ex-husband to settle his own problem.

“We have not met since the divorce. I have my own life now. Please do not put me and the children in danger,” she said.
