KUALA LUMPUR: The first ever Police Day road march brought our “Men in Blue” even closer to the public.
Police assets and demonstrations were shown off to the public during the day-long celebration at Dataran Merdeka here, as part of the 215th Police Day celebration.
Among the highlights of the event was the parachute display by the General Operations Force’s VAT 69 commando unit where six operators jumped out of a police helicopter and made their way to the centre of the field.
Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said the road march was in partnership with City Hall and the Malaysian Information Department.

“This initiative (follows) a new and different approach (compared to) previous Police Day celebrations.
“It is also in line with our motto, ‘polis dan masyarakat berpisah tiada’ (the public and police are inseparable),” she said in a statement yesterday.
Apart from this, a 50% discount on selected traffic summonses was given to those who paid their fines at the event.
The event was officiated by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
