KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob should not just brush off the “understanding” forged with Perikatan Nasional, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
“We feel that when we gave our support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, there was an understanding between us.
“I think he should not just brush off whatever understanding that we have. So we feel a bit of dissatisfaction.
“There is nothing wrong about feeling dissatisfied with certain issues. So it is only fair for us to ask for an appointment to meet up with the Prime Minister,” the Perikatan secretary-general told reporters in Parliament on Thursday (July 28).
Hamzah, who is also the Home Minister in Ismail Sabri’s Cabinet, said this when asked the reason for the dissatisfaction.
However, he did not clarify on what was the bone of contention that resulted in the dissatisfaction.
Commenting on Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar’s remarks that the important “term” in Hamzah’s statement earlier could be related to the deputy prime minister post, he said, “Did I mention demand?”
Mahfuz said when debating the anti-party hopping Bill in Parliament that the statement by Hamzah did not mention the deputy prime minister post, but said it's publicly known that Perikatan was eyeing for the post.
Hamzah added that the Perikatan delegation will meet the Prime Minister when an appointment is granted.
In a statement earlier today, Hamzah said Perikatan will send a delegation to meet the Prime Minister to discuss the implementation of the terms of an agreement signed between them and Ismail Sabri.
Citing disappointment over what it claimed to be a lack of determination and commitment on the part of the Prime Minister to fulfil what had been agreed, Perikatan wants the meeting to be held soon.
He said this was decided at the Perikatan supreme council meeting held on Wednesday (July 27) night.
“The meeting expressed disappointment with the Prime Minister, who is seen as though he is not determined to fulfil the important terms in the agreement between him and Perikatan,” he said in the statement.
