PUTRAJAYA: The blare of trumpets and cheers filled the skies of Dataran Putrajaya to greet the arrival of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for the 2026 National Day celebration on Monday (Aug 31).

His Majesty arrived for the celebration in a sleek black limousine alongside Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia.

The limousine was escorted by an entourage of vehicles manned by Johor Military Forces (JMF), Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and police personnel.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim greeted His Majesty and Her Majesty upon their arrival before escorting them into the VVIP stands.

The notable loud horns and cheers from thousands of Malaysians could be heard as His Majesty arrived, followed shortly by a live rendition of the national anthem, Negaraku, to kick off the celebration.

They were also treated to an opening performance by a band consisting of Johor Military Forces (JMF) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) personnel.

Military helicopters bearing the Jalur Gemilang also flew overhead opposite the VVIP box during the performance.
