KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has expressed hope that today’s National Day celebrations will run smoothly, with all parties involved giving their utmost to ensure the success of the event.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s Facebook page, His Majesty said this after granting an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Tunku here.
“I hope the National Day celebrations will run smoothly, and I look forward to seeing everyone involved giving their best to commemorate this important event in our nation’s history,” His Majesty said yesterday.
During the meeting, His Majesty was also briefed on the latest developments in the country, including preparations for the celebrations, reported Bernama.
The 69th National Day celebrations, themed “Malaysia Madani: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, will begin at 8am today at Dataran Putrajaya, featuring 10,819 participants from 76 parade contingents and 22 marching bands.
Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, are scheduled to attend the celebrations along with Anwar and members of the Cabinet.
