Covid-19 Watch: 4,759 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,759 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (July 26), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Wednesday (July 27) that this brings the new total to 4,659,710 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 4,759, three are imported cases while 4,756 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 4,806 recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 46,260.

Of the active cases, 96.6% or 44,708 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 23 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.2% of active cases or 1,477 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 52 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 28 require ventilator support.
