Covid-19 Watch: 2,720 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,720 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (July 24), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (July 25) that this brings the new total to 4,651,651 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,720, five are imported cases while 2,725 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 4,012 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 48,252.

Of the active cases, 96.6% or 46,632 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 24 people or 0.0% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.2% of active cases or 1,542 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 54 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 32 require ventilator support.
