Suspect remanded a week over couple’s murder in Bercham


IPOH: The 61-year-old suspect who murdered his brother and his wife at a house in Bercham near here has been remanded for a week.

The accused, wearing a grey T-shirt and pants, was brought into the Magistrate’s Court here about 9am.

Magistrate Jesseca Daimis issued a remand order until July 14 to allow police to carry out investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Police arrested the suspect in Genting Highlands, where an axe, believed to be murder weapon, was also discovered.

The arrest was made at about 7.45pm on Thursday (July 7).

Yesterday, a report was lodged by the male victim’s eldest brother, who found the two victims covered with blood in the living room of their house in Taman Bercham Aman.

Police believed the murders happened on Wednesday (July 6) night.

The victims have been identified as 64-year-old Ng Chun Hon and his wife, Ooi Tin Lu, 59.
