Covid-19 Watch: 2,932 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,932 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (July 5), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Wednesday (July 6) that this brings the new total to 4,578,741 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,932 cases, two are imported cases while 2,930 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,292 recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 30,019.

Of the active cases, 95.6% or 28,709 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 30 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.1% of active cases or 1,238 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 42 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 25 require ventilator support.
