Jealousy reason behind brawl in Ara Damansara

PETALING JAYA: The fight that snowballed into a huge brawl at Ara Damansara was caused by a youth who was upset that his girlfriend had gone out with another man.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhruddin Abdul Hamid said investigations revealed that the entire incident was sparked after the youth found out about it.

“A fight ensued which led to the brawl on Friday,” he said at the launch of Amanita Taman Angkat at Taman Penggawa in Kuala Selangor yesterday.

It was reported earlier that 15 men and four women, aged between 15 and 27, have been arrested over the incident.

ACP Mohamad Fakhruddin said police seized a baseball bat, which was believed to have been used by one of the suspects.

Two of the suspects have criminal records, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting while the 19 suspects have been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation.
