Body found in Kepala Batas ditch


KEPALA BATAS: The body of a man whose identity has not yet been confirmed was found in a ditch near Surau Permatang Pak Elong, Jalan Permatang Pak Elong, here on Sunday (Oct 11).

Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said that the department received a call from the police at 3.52pm to assist in retrieving the body.

A team of personnel from the Kepala Batas Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the location and found the man's body in a ditch before the operation commander instructed the team to carry out the task of lifting the body out of the ditch.

"The body of the man in his 40s was then handed over to the police for further action," he said in a statement.

He said the operation, which involved seven members along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, ended at 6.44pm.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Abdul Rahman, when contacted, confirmed the discovery of the body and stated that further investigations are underway, including an autopsy to determine the actual cause of the victim's death.- Bernama
