KUALA LUMPUR: With 2,527 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Saturday (June 2), Malaysia daily case numbers remain above the 2,500 mark for the third day running.
This takes the cumulative number of cases in the country to 4,571,355 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 2,523 of Saturday's (July 2) new Covid-19 cases were locally transmitted while four imported infections.
The ministry's GitHub data repository showed that this was the third day in a row there have been more than 2,500 new Covid-19 infections reported in the country, with cases showing a slight decline compared to Friday's (July 1) 2,773 and Thursday's (June 30) 2,867.
However, there were no new deaths reported on Saturday.
The CovidNow portal further reported that the number of active cases in the country was 30,385, of which 28,701 (94.5%) were home quarantined and 24 people (0.1%) were in Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres throughout the country.
A total of 1,617 patients (5.3% of active cases), are being treated at hospitals nationwide with 43 (0.2%), warded in intensive care units (ICU).
Of those admitted to ICU on Saturday, 21 are unventilated while 22 require ventilator support.
Malaysia's current ICU utilisation rate stands at 63% with 9.6% being used for Covid-19 patients.
