Bill on welfare of retired cops to be tabled by end of the year, says Deputy IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: A Bill aimed at the welfare of retired and former policemen is expected to be tabled in Parliament by the end of the year, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said a special committee that was formed on April 12 had been tasked with drafting the Bill.

“The draft will be sent to the Home Ministry and it can be expected to be tabled in Parliament by the end of the year at the latest,” he said at the Retired Senior Police Officers Association of Malaysia (Respa) 38th general assembly at the Royal Malaysia Police College here Wednesday (June 22).

Regarding the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN), Razarudin said ceremonies to award the medals would resume after a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The government has allocated RM102,000 for the medal ceremony at the contingent level involving 6,800 people.

“PJPN medals will also be handed out without ceremonies at all police contingents from time to time,” he said.
