SHAH ALAM: A brief scuffle broke out between lawyers and photographers at the entrance to the Shah Alam High Court on Tuesday (June 21).

Journalists covering the Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan murder case were momentarily distracted when lawyer, S. Suresh, representing the juveniles accused, was hit in the head by a photographer.

Suresh was seen trying to push his way through the crowd of photographers when emotions ran high and the lawyer was hit on the head with a camera.

Expletives could be heard as some photographers stopped the fight.

The photographer was heard daring the lawyer to lodge a police report over the assault.

Suresh was later seen walking towards the stairs, wiping his forehead.

The Shah Alam High Court will decide on Tuesday (June 21) if Nazrin's widow Samirah Muzaffar and two teenagers will walk free or have to defend themselves in court for his murder.

The teens and their family members had arrived in court as early as 7.30am to reserve benches in the court room, and reporters who did not manage to get a seat had to head to another special media room two levels above the court room.

The prosecution team comprised deputy public prosecutors Mohd Asnawi Abu Hanipah, Tengku Intan Suraya Tengku Ismail and Nur Sabrina Abu Bakar. The defence team comprised of lawyers Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah and Rahmat Hazlan.

The prosecution closed its case on Feb 14 after calling 57 witnesses, including the deceased's older siblings, brothers Dr Abdul Aziz and Dr Malek Reedzwan and sister Che Elainee; Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Edwin Galan Anak Teruki; Hospital Kuala Lumpur pathology forensic officer Dr Siew Sheue Feng; and a security guard at Nazrin's residence, Raju Kumar Pandit.

Hearing of the case began on Sept 6, 2019.

On March 12, 2019, Samirah, 47, the two teenagers who are now aged 19 and 16 years old, as well as Indonesian woman Eka Wahyu Lestari, who is still at large, were charged with murdering Nazrin at his house in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, between 11.30pm on June 13, 2018 and 4am the following day.
