Amanah urges Perak govt to resume Subang-Pulau Pangkor flights

IPOH: Perak Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is disappointed with the fact that flights from Subang to Pulau Pangkor were not operating despite the route being launched in January this year.

Amanah’s Perak Youth communications director Mohd Ikhmal Mohd Iskandar said based on information from the Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad and SKS Airways, the services were suspended until October due to the lack of demand.

He said this situation was very unfortunate, especially since the country has just entered into the endemic phase, after two long years of non-tourism activities.

“Therefore, we urge the state government via Tourism Perak to hold promotional campaigns to increase demand and for the flights to resume.

“This effort is very important in accordance with the status of Pangkor as a duty-free island, and especially so since Pangkor’s Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) Port has received permission from the Transport Ministry for re-use,” he said in a statement on Sunday (June 19).

Mohd Ikhmal added that all continuous efforts are required to boost the tourism industry, especially in Pangkor, and Perak generally.
