PAS only cares about seizing power with Tajuddin offer, says Perak Amanah

Ipoh

IPOH: Perak PAS offering to let Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman contest on the party’s ticket in the 15th General Election is like giving a ‘stick to a compromised leader”, says Dr Muhaimin Sulam(pic).

The Perak Parti Amanah Negara vice-chairman said the statement by Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria was like denying the ability of PAS' own leadership.

He said Pasir Salak has been Umno’s stronghold since independence and has produced great leaders such as Mohd Abbas Ahmad, Othman Abdullah, Megat Junid Megat Ayub, Ramli Ngah and several others.

Muhaimin said similarly, that PAS in the constituency has featured great figures such as Tuan Guru Abu Bakar Anjang Wahid, Hasan Adli in offering their services as elected representatives.

“Tajuddin is not a figure who should be associated with the struggle of PAS.

“Are the principles and struggles of the party jeopardised just to seize power, a step taken following the Sheraton Move?” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday (June 28).

Following the removal of Tajuddin from the Umno supreme council, Razman had offered him a chance to defend his seat.

Harakah Daily had reported on June 25 quoting Razman that Tajuddin could contest on the PAS ticket if the latter was dropped as a Barisan Nasional candidate in GE15.

Razman had however said that it depended on whether PAS was allocated the Pasir Salak seat under the five-party Perikatan Nasional coalition.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had also said on Monday (June 27) that Tajuddin could join PAS at any time to continue his political career.

Muhaimin said in GE14, Tajuddin had won the seat where PAS had also contested in a three-corner fight.

He said prior to that, the last time PAS contested in the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat was in 2004.

“Indeed the offer was welcomed by Tajuddin, as he is willing to consider the proposal despite refusing to join PAS.

“Perhaps they both already have a common inclination to enjoy the pleasures of power,” he said.
