Tributes pour in after news of Adibah Noor's passing


PETALING JAYA: Malaysian celebrities and personalities took to social media to pay heartfelt tributes to actress-singer Adibah Noor who passed away on Saturday (June 18) night.

She died at 8.15pm at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur, mStar reported. She was 51.

It was reported that Adibah was suffering from ovarian cancer.

Comedian Harith Iskander said he was in “true shock”.

“Every time I spoke about @adibahnoormohdomar I always, always declared she was one of the best and truest vocalists ever.

“She did @drjezaminelim (Harith’s wife Dr Jezamine Lim) and myself the honour of performing at our wedding in 2010 and it was a moment that we will cherish forever,” he said on Facebook.

Through the years, Harith said he and Adibah became friends and he discovered that she had “the hugest heart and love for cats” and those who were less fortunate.

“In her career, she was a perfectionist sometimes and wouldn't stand for fools - but she was always professional and delivered when called upon.

“I dont know what to say... minta maaf Kak Dib. (I’m sorry, Kak Dib). I should have known you were not well,” Harith said.

In her illustrious career, Adibah played Puan Hajar, the school principal in Astro's Oh My English. She was a teacher before she joined show business.

Actress Sofia Jane described Adibah as smart, beautiful and sassy.

“The fact that she was still bravely working a few days ago before her passing breaks me,” she added.

Another fellow actress Susan Lankester, said Adibah was an incredibly talented person.

“She could sing, she could act, do drama and to top it all off, she was incredibly kind,” she said.

Actress and producer Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina said Adibah was believed to have succumbed to her fourth-stage ovarian cancer.

“This is so heartbreaking, I was always so fond of her, and such a big believer in her talent,” she said.

Actor Afdlin Shauki on his Instagram asked his followers to recite Al-Fatihah prayers for Adibah, whom he called his friend.
