PETALING JAYA: Traffic congestion has been reported along several stretches of the highways as people make their way back home after the long weekend.
According to the Malaysia Highway Authority's official Twitter account, traffic was slow-moving along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway.
"Traffic is slow moving from Karak to the Bentong Toll Plaza, Genting Sempah to the Gombak Toll Plaza, and the Gombak Toll Plaza to the Middle Ring Road 2 toward Sri Gombak.
"Traffic was also slow-moving along the Penang Bridge from Prai toward the island," it said in a series of tweets.

It added that along the North-South Expressway, traffic was slow moving heading south along several stretches including Senawang to Pedas Linggi, Ayer Keroh to the Bemban rest stop, Tangkak to Bukit Gambir, Yong Peng (north) to Yong Peng (south) and Simpang Renggam to Sedenak.
"Heading north, traffic was slow moving from Senai to Kulai, Sedenak to the Simpang Renggam rest stop, Simpang Renggam to Ayer Hitam, Yong Peng (north) rest stop to Pagoh, Bukit Gambir to Tangkak, Tangkak to Jasin and Jasin to Ayer Keroh.
Traffic was also heavy from the Ayer Keroh rest stop to Simpang Ampat, Simpang Ampat to the Pedas Linggi (north) rest stop and to Port Dickson," it said.
It added that up north, traffic was also slow moving heading south from Sungai Petani to Bertam, Permatang Pauh to Prai, Juru to Bandar Cassia, Bandar Baharu to Alor Pongsu, Changkat Jering to Bukit Berapit, Kuala Kangsar to Sungai Perak, Menora tunnel to Ipoh (north), Ipoh (south) to Simpang Pulai, Gopeng to Tapah, Tapah toward Bidor and Sungkai to Slim River.
"Traffic was also slow moving in the opposite direction from Slim River to Sungkai, Taiping (north) to Bukit Merah, Bukit Merah to Bandar Baharu, and Jawi to Sungai Bakap," it said.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department principal assistant director (enforcement) Supt Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the heavy traffic can be attributed to those taking advantage of the long weekend and the school holidays to travel.
"Motorists should be patient, courteous and refrain from provoking other motorists especially when they are stuck in heavy traffic.
"We have noticed that as the traffic becomes congested, a number of motorists start resorting to driving on the emergency lane," he said, adding that police personnel were out in the field to ensure traffic flows smoothly and motorists abide by the regulations.
He added that they would not hesitate to take action against anyone caught violating the traffic rules.
Supt Dr Bakri also urged motorists with dash cameras to forward footage of errant motorists to the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Facebook page.
