Comprehensive guidelines on micromobility vehicles in final stage, says Dr Wee


PETALING JAYA: A comprehensive plan with guidelines on micromobility vehicles is in the final stage of completion, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic).

The Transport Minister said the plan involves various ministries, agencies and local councils and would be unveiled shortly.

"The government understands the important role that micromobility can play," said Dr Wee on his Facebook on Sunday (May 22).

The government banned the use of certain micromobility vehicles on the roads on April 26.

The ban involves mopeds, personal mobility devices including electric scooters, devices with internal combustion engines or propelled by human power as well as personal mobility aids.

Dr Wee said the Road Traffic (Prohibition of Use of Certain Micromobility Vehicles) Rules 2021 had been enforced since Dec 17 last year.
